NMAT 2017 first day level of difficulty was medium. Paper was very much similar to last year NMAT paper. Overall Cutoff 209 – 208.
Out of 120 multiple-choice questions a few questions were tricky and more time consuming. Since there is no negative marking most of the candidates preferred to attempt all the questions. Number of candidates did some guess work when the 5 minutes warning signal in the section began flashing. Still you will need a high score to stand in merit.
At some of the centres questions were taking time to get loaded on the screen which caused anxiety among the NMAT 2016 test takers Apart frm that there was no major technology failure reported
Those who made genuine attempts to solve 85-80 questions may hope for a good position in merit. Exam despite having a bit different type of questions was doable. The level of difficulty in all NMAT sections remained moderate overall.
Questions 32 time 22 mins
While the questions and their types cannot be disclosed due to non disclosure agreement, most of the questions in this section were based on fundamentals of English language like core grammar topics usage on Parts of speech, tenses, conditionals, Reported speech, Synonyms, antonyms, fill in the blanks type. As reported by the candidates the questions in this section were based not only on Quant but also were related to data Interpretation and data sufficiency. Major topics in this section were on Arithmetic, Numbers, PnC, Geometry and modern math. This section had 48 questions and had to be solved in 60 minutes.
DI 12 16 questions 3-4 sets (too much calculations)
DS 5 – 6 questions
However on day 2 or 3 you can expect different paper pattern ie maybe 20 DI/DS questions. Many questions were based on Cetking’s mocks.
NMAT 2017 has started on October 5 and will continue till December. A candidate is allowed to take the NMAT, a maximum of three times (first attempt plus a maximum of two retake attempts, including no shows). You can schedule the retake test on a date, which is 15 or more days after the most recent date of attempt. In other words, you will have to wait for at least 15 calendar days before you can appear for a retake attempt. You can schedule your test any time during the retake scheduling window (subjected to real time availability) for any slot which is a minimum of 24 hours later than the time you carry out the scheduling transaction in Pearson VUE system
Candidates had a choice of selecting the order/sequence of the test sections, each section had an individual time limit and candidates needed to complete answering the questions and reviewing the section within the allotted section time. Since the number of questions and time limit of the test sections are predetermined and remain the same regardless of when and where the test is administered. The computer displays questions one at a time. Only after a candidate takes an action on the first question, will the computer display the next question.
NMAT is computer-delivered test in which each candidate got a randomly generated exam from a pool of questions will see loads of questions similar to day 1 on subsequent days.

Anant Rastogi, Director Marketing – South Asia, NMAT by GMAC, said that there was an increased focus on women. “Of the 16 institutes using NMAT scores, one is an all-women’s college. While holding our outreach programmes, we targeted several all-women’s colleges too. Though the percentage rise in women candidates is only 2%, 3,600 more women have registered this year,” said Rastogi.
This year, close to 55% of the candidates registered are freshers, indicating that students want to acquire the degree immediately after their basic undergraduate programme. All the way to NMAT 2016 scoring
215 plus – expert
Great congrats.. no need for a reattempt.. u r in safe zone to convert the score.. Focus on the non nmat exams now.. nmat is done and dusted.. you can start prep for case studies.. common for nmat cdpi… but if gdpi is hot ur forte try for another attempt and score of 230 plus to ensure ur ticket to mumbai and nmims.
209 – 215 challenger
Very good score.. you will get a call for sure and we have many students coverting nmims at these scores. but remember 70% weightage is for nmat score and 30% for case study.. so try for another attempt at nmat and try to make it 215 plus..
208 – 190 unlucky
Unlucky score.. you are good in studies but not that close to get a call from nmat.. so definitely give nmat repeat attempt but have to improve otherwise no fun.. scores will increase with ur shortcuts mock taking strategies.. one good day and you are in.. 190 plus means you are good.. just need to be best.. you might end up in nmims bangalore or hyd… but I am sure u don’t want to end up there.. so work ur a** off for the next few weeks..
190 – 165 not that far
Fair score.. you are still away from the magical score of 200 plus.. If I was yiu would def try nmat again and take it as my avenge on nmat exam.. work hard.. run through the basics again.. fpcus on my shortcuts and mock taking strategies to clear the exam 210 plus.. and that would be a fitting “in your face” reply to nmat..
165 and less… hmmm we have other exams
Frankly that’s a bad call… surely means you were not prepared for the exam.. we can see improvement needed in every front.. basics shortcuts quant verbal and even logic.. you can avoid giving nmat again and focus on other remaining exams like snap xat cmat.. unless u improve drastically.. your magic number 200 plus would be difficult.. so give repeat attempt only if u gonna study.
